• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Ok, so I have been thinking about this for a while and finally had the
revelation that "if it does not yet exist, you probably ought to start one
yourself".

We need a Range Control list.

I am thinking along the lines of any permanent freq assigned to a specific
location where there is a fixed radio base station, under a roof (to include ATC). While I
hate to exclude A2A and temporary assignments I think it has to be done to
make the list serve any purpose.

If one already exists I haven't found it yet and while much can be found in
the graciously posted logs of many folks, it's hardly a one stop shop due
to many threads over many years.

Low band anything is kind of a niche area right off the bat, and military
low band just as much, but I believe it will be a benefit to all, just to
have a listing or a dedicated thread to search, of the well known and
generally confirmed Range Control freqs for confirmation, elimination or
for those who couldn't care less, a quick way of determining where a band
may be open.

I don't have any good ideas how to do this other than just simply list them
so suggestions are welcome.

I'll start with stuff I feel pretty sure about:

38.9 Ft. Bragg Range Control Primary

41.75 Camp Mackall tower/(Ft. Bragg Range Control)

41.8 Ft. Bragg Range Control Helo Ops (Tower)

46.75 Ft. Bragg Range Control back-up

This partly came about to my doing a "new" antenna test this morning and picking up tx's on 41.75 but the tower side only. Which only leads me to conclude it was skip and not from Bragg. There is no way the "new" antenna is that much better, but I also can't find another 41.75 in use as of yet.

list

Well howdeee,, you are an ambitious soul. You likely are familiar with these two, but, there is a gentleman out of Kentucky that keeps a great list, as well as the gentleman out of Texas. I don't want to type the monikers here because I don't know if they want to be contacted.. They are both great sources. I like searching the area you're talking about, mostly due to the fact that it's similar to fishing, you may not catch anything for awhile, but when you bring one in the boat it is worth it. Take care over there.

Have you considered putting all this information, and future finds, in a Wiki page?

You can also go through all the low band logs posts (mostly by kkn50) in the past few years, pick out the range control or other military stuff (easy to do because kkn50 posts the correct 150.0 tone), and make your own database.
