Hi Jerry @ve3ext, I was doing a little searching myself to see if I could help you out. For the Ranger RCI-5054 transceiver, are you sure that is a 100 watt unit? If so, might you have the model number wrong? For a Ranger RCI-5054, I am seeing a specification of "covers 6 meters 50-54 MHz with 25 watts PEP (USB/LSB) or 10 watts RMS(CW/AM/FM)."

From: Ranger RCI-5054, Ranger RCI-2950 Transceiver

I just wanted to make sure that I was looking for the correct model.

The Ranger was made in two versions, RCI-5054DX (25 watts) and the RCI-5054DX-100 (100 watts). I would suspect that they are the same except for the final output circuit.

Hi Jerry @ve3ext, on page 18 of the Owners Manual, it talks about an optional CTCSS Encoder. Have you tried to find that card? 73, Dave K4EET

NOTE: FM repeaters may require that a sub-audible CTCSS tone be
transmitted to gain access to the repeater. The RCI-5054DX can be
equipped with an optional CTCSS encoder.

I am in the process of making new VCO coils for 50-54 right now on a low band Ranger.
It is possible to wire in about any CTCSS board, the hard part is getting the levels right.
GE master base station CG cards may even be compatible.
(Looking to mod it like my Delta SX.)
Let me know of any documentation you need for the radio.
I am into a very problematic LB Orion also and may become a development platform.
Modding a 36-50 ranger is no easy chore and seen some smoke not doing it right.
Here IMHO is a workable but poor mod:

OK, adding CG card is doing it the hard way, the brain does handle CG via 2 'walsh bits'.
CG data is programmed on a channel by channel basis into the X2212 eeprom.
Some read for you, if I can find something that will upload.
Find LBI-31619D on repeater builder site, read programming note on page A7.
LBI-31714D covers that also, a good read.

Why do I get upload file to big for the system errors ? Cmon, they are not that big.
See, leave it to Ericsson to confuse seasoned engineers, OPs radio is NOT the RANGER, it is the
RCI-5054DX ham rig. And my bad being in the amateur category and not taking note.

Hi Merlin,

150 GBytes might be a tad big for this forum... LOL!!! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: j/k - Good to see you here! 73, Dave K4EET
I uploaded a 200+Kb file just fine, a file one third the size gets me the too large error. 10 Kb is even too big.
(total, I have over 500 Gb in documents.)
