Raspberry Pi 5 vs Windows?

Hello everyone,

I'm currently using a Raspberry Pi 3 with a Broadcastify setup and a sound card connected to a Motorola XTS2500 via an auxiliary cable. My feed streams a single Phase 1 800 MHz channel in my area, but there’s a 3-4 minute delay.

I’m considering upgrading to either a Raspberry Pi 5 or a Windows computer to explore other programs like Rdio Scanner, OP25, and more.

I have two questions:

  1. Which setup offers better performance and is more beginner-friendly for experimenting?
  2. Could either option help reduce the delay in my broadcast stream?

Sorry for the most basic question here, which has probably been answered five times.

1. For experimenting I'd go with the Pi5
2. The delay in all broadcast streams is due to our relay servers "bursting" audio to clients for performance reasons, since 80% of our listeners are on mobile devices and need that "burst" for best performance. That buffer burst results in a delay between 30-120 secs depending on the client, but it provides the best performance (less dropped connections)
