All these agencies need to do is flip the channel switch on their radios for interoperability. Instead, they choose to waste vaulable time by having their dispatcher contact the other dispatcher, etc...
Most everyone on the Western portion of Cuyahoga County (with the exception of those on the Parma & SWRCN systems) are all on hi-band and have each other's channels in their radios.
The sad thing is that I know the guy over at Cleveland Communications. He's more worried about making $$$ than about having interoperability.
What the County should have done was set up a county-wide TRS and say 'all agencies have the option of joining if they so choose' and giving talkgroups on the system to all agencies in the County. But, this County doesn't think that way. There's TOO MUCH POLITICS in Cuyahoga County to think straight.
In addition, Cleveland very rarely goes on ANY kind of Mutual Aid response unless it's to East Cleveland. All Ohio Law Enforcement vehicles were supposed to have a LEERN (Law Enforcement Emergency Radio Network) in the vehicle. Yet, Cleveland has only a handful of those radios in cars. If there is a pursuit in one of the suburbs and it goes in to Cleveland, forget about getting in contact with CPD. You gotta go through your dispatcher, then CPD Radio, then, if you're lucky, a CPD cop will leave the Coffee shop to assist.
