• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Anyone here recently add p25 trunking to one of their radios? I have a m7300 which was practically given to me, it has EDACs and p25 conventional but not trunking. Is Harris still charging $1100 for the option? I know the cost to add phase 2 but was wondering what the cost would be for phase 1. Wanted to pay the money to add phase 2 to a p7300 and a different m7300 but found out that the feature strings didn't match what TAC has on file (i.e. they were hacked). Yes I know I can ask my dealer for a quote but I figured I would ask here first.

I saw that price list before but I took another look at it and found something interesting: for the M5300 or the XG-25 (newer radio) the price to upgrade to P25 trunking on that list shows it for $750 list ($555 net), but it shows $1100 list ($814 net) for the M7300. Man, the former would be in the ballpark but the latter makes it cost prohibitive. Thanks for that price list!

I'm afraid you have a useless brick, quite literally a doorstop; whatever you do, do NOT order option 39!! You can easily buy a used M7300/XG-75M with option 39 for between $150-$400 (approx). For reasons I cannot fathom, numerous people who know absolutely nothing about Harris radios purchased piles of 700/800 Open Sky & EDACS M & P 7xxx radios, and try sell them on Fleabay for hundreds of dollars; usually they don't show screenshots of the option codes, sometimes they will explicitly state they have no idea what options are included. Those are totally worthless bricks, they should only be bought/sold as parts radios for maybe $20-40.

There are numerous great sellers on Fleabay, they will always post screenshots of the features and option codes, and/or send you screenshots if you ask. You can also find good quality used Harris radios on several facebook groups. The bottom line is keep what you currently have for spare parts, and buy something with option 39 already included (and if you can find it Option 47 as well). Also beware there are a few idiots occasionally selling Harris radios on Fleabay that were improperly shipped from the factory with Option 47, but NOT option 39. Those radios are also useless bricks.

I second what @natedawg1604 said. I paid $100ish for my XG-75/7300M with P25T & Phase II.

I'm in more of a pickle with my 100M. I'm not trying to spend $1400 on the two options but there aren't many out there to buy with the options included. Would love to swap with a ham who would prefer my unit having wideband unlocked than trunking in theirs.
