What do I need to record scanner broadcasts to my PC without damaging the scanner. I have read all kinds of things about the ground and messing the scanner up and I would like to just clarify. Thanks

All you need is a cable to go from your radio to your sound card (nothing special).

I use a patch cable between my 396 and the pc soundcard. Software I use is ARC396Pro which records in wav format.

ok I got the tones. A-584.8 and B-339.6. My new question is now what?? I programmed those in correctly I think. My county dispatches on 154.1000 is this the frequency I should use? The database has this listed as dispatch but it also has 114.8PL listed as tone. This is Caroline County Maryland is you would like to look at the database. Also should the Modulation be Auto or FM?? Any help would be appreciated.

Put in the tone that is shown with the freq in the database.

Recording a 396T

Ok I got that part. I must still be doing something wrong as the station I run with had three calls last night and the scanner did not alert. Which frequency should I be putting in?? The dispatch frequency or the 114.8PL frequency??

You will want to put in the 154.1000 with a PL of 114.8 (a PL is not a frequency).

It isn't? Always thought tone squelch worked by sending a sub-audible frequency

I am saying that he does not enter it in like you would a regular frequency.

Mickey, pg 89 in the manual tells you how to do it (isn't the manual a wonderful thing).
