So Reno County just did their pager tests a little bit ago for Hutch Fire... from time to time they'll do their radio tests on one of the ops channels. Today, it was Ops 8. I'm thinking it may be one of the training channels but not sure. Maybe someone else in the area can shed a little light on that. I didnt have my digital scanner available to verify what it may be if any.

I would suspect it is to get all their personnel experienced in changing channels. Some agencies struggle significantly with that. By using the secondary Ops channels in this manner, it gets them used to switching channels and Zones. It's actually not a bad idea. They are also (at least they were) very proactive in having their crews use the old VHF channels from time to time so they will know how to use them if the 800 system goes down.
