Repeater macros

Can someone explain what repeater macros are?

Let's say I want to link a 2m and a 70cm repeater together, change the courtesy beep so that users know the repeaters are linked, and have the repeater make an announcement that the link is enabled. Without macros, I'd have to issue three commands. With macros, I issue one command and the macro triggered by that command sends the commands to perform the three tasks I mentioned.

To expand on what Bob said above, any routine that can be programmed for the repeater to perform automatically at certain times/days is a macro. With automatic control, a control op can have the repeater perform a task at a certain day/time without further input from the control op.
