Hey all, I managed to drop my Diamond X50C2 off my roof (3 stories) and broke it. I'm looking to: A) replace it with a new one B) Try something different. I was happy with it but always looking for the next best thing. I scan almost all VHF public safety with a few UHF channels mixed in. I'm restricted to about 6' antenna height with the mount that I have. What do you think? Just replace with a new one? Try something new? Thanks all!

It's probably the plastic that cracked, so cannot be glued to make it water tight again? if any ground pins bent they can be bent back.
If not repairable maybe an Omni-X can be tried.

May be repairable, it is cracked, I'll see what I can do with it as well.

I have been wanting to give the Omni X a shot for the past couple years, but can't really tell if it will be an improvement. Seems most of the reviews are from people replacing a wide band discone. Since I already had the Diamond dual band, I may not see much (if any) improvement with the Omni-X, but who knows...

I have a Diamond Discone and the Omni-X for me is definitely better the discone for receiving.

I have a ground plane kit with a Larsen tri-bander on it. It works great for monitoring VHF, UHF, and 7/800 in my area. I'm picking up stuff about 25-35 miles away on each band, sometimes farther. My antenna is about 20 feet AGL with about 50 feet of LMR400.

My Omni X blows away the discone I had up. Even the low freq stuff 27, 165 and 425 works good.
