I doubt that putting a ferrite bead on your coax will solve your noise problem unless the noise is being picked up by the coax shield. Grounding your antenna might give better results.

Probably the best you're going to do without driving rods in the ground is bond whatever you have it stuck to(don't tell me it isn't stuck on metal already) to a waterpipe.

It's a mag mount antenna. So find a sheet of metal say 3 ft. square that it will stick to, drill a hole in it, attach a large gauge stranded wire like maybe 8 ga. if possible, attach the other end to a waterpipe with a clamp the guy at the hardware store will hand you once you described what you want to do.

Not hard.

You might try turning off all the electronics in your house one device at a time. Start with shutting down your computer and pulling the plug. Kill any Ethernet hubs and switches. Pull the plug on your cable modem if you have one. No laptops going or wireless WIFI devices. In other words, go into the dark ages until you can determine the source of the noise is not in your house. Don't forget all the cell chargers, game devices and even the plug to the TV, stereo, sat dish and what ever else for power hogs you don't think you have in the house. Those neat touch lamps are a killer. Pull the plug on the telephone devices also.

When I say go into the dark ages, I mean it. Once your there, see what the scanner sounds like. Then start adding back one device at a time. I would start with the telephone. need to keep the family happy. You might look at the TV next and the cable modem. Just one thing, device or what ever.

You will be amazed at just how many small little power devices you have around the house. The cell phone chargers are bad for making RF noise, even if the phone is not connected. Fish tank heaters have been know to take out whole sections of the radio spectrum.

I will give you one hint if the noise is still there. In desperation, you can pull the main power breaker to the house. Just make sure you can run the scanner on a battery during the time your making the whole family ready to kill you. If the noise does go away, with the main power to the house, you missed some device. If your still sure you found everything, the very last item is the power transformer that is used to power the door bell on the front door. Maybe even you have a door bell on the back door. When the contractor built the house, they sometimes bury this transformer in the wall someplace. If this happens to be the case, good luck trying to find it. Maybe you will be lucky and find it is screwed to one of the ceiling joists up in the attic. I hunted for over 6 years before I found mine hidden in the attic under the insulation. It took me pulling on wires till I found it.

If the noise isn't there when you use the antenna that was supplied with the scanner then you might consider using an antenna that ISN'T designed for mobile use. Most base-station type antennas don't need a ground to work against, they are either 1/2 wave or supply their own ground plane.

Why are you using a mag-mount anyway? They're usually for cars and trucks where they stick onto a large metal surface. The base of the antenna is capacatively coupled to the metal which acts as a ground plane. Running a magmount without the ground plane is asking for trouble.

Your best bet for a narrow band of frequencies is a quarter-wave vertical with a ground plane (you didn't say what frequencies your mag-mount was cut for....), or for a wideband, a discone works well.
