I use 3 feet of this to hook up between my LMR 400 coax and radios so I don’t stress out the connector on the radio. Am considering a 10 foot piece to go from outside to where my radios are in the house. Trying not to drill a bigger hole for the LMR 400. Is 10 feet of RG 58 to long that i will lose signal? The LMR 400 is 50 feet to my discone. Thanks.

Yeah, don't get hung up on it. There will be additional loss, but noticing that loss is a different matter.

Depends on which frequency you are using, but I'd not be concerned unless you are right on the very fringe of coverage.

If your using UHF connectors on the coax, they are all the same size. For a smaller hole, you will need to install the end connector on the RG-58 after running it thru the wall. Might be simpler to get a pass-thru for the wall. Its a little smaller diameter than the UHF connector. They come in different lengths.

Typical RG58 has 1 dB of loss for 10 feet at 450 MHz, and 1.3 dB loss at 800 MHz. I agree with the others, you'll never notice the difference. At 3 dB loss, you might start to notice. LMR240 is a touch bigger than RG58 and is better quality but most likely not worth the effort in changing in your application.
