• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Does such an animal exist?

New construction project, and current staff are moving to the new building. Looking to add remotes in this new building, but leave base station where it is due to antenna being on a 60 foot tower there. New building and old are roughly 600 feet apart. Base station is a single channel (simplex) Motorola CM200

Old building will be maintaned and renovated, so the current IP network will be retained.

Is there a RoIP interface that will connect the existing Motorola base radio to the network, (copper/fiber/tbd), then come out of the network in the new building, into the tone remote adapter for the 6-8 new desksets?

Take a look at JPS's offerings. I did a round up of JPS, Telex, and one other brand a year ago, and the JPS was a better deal , especially for expansion and interoperability.

I had great luck with the JPS NXU. I haven't dealt with the new version yet. They can handle function tones for tone keying (passes them through) or local remote (PTT, GND, MIC).

Yes, they are but they are a cross between an IP-1616, IP-6200 and IP-2002 in one bundle with a real OS and basically a customize / hardened C-Soft running under the cover.

I loved the IP-2002 and used it in many, many installations. But like so many things I think it outlived the ability for them to get chips and other parts.

Thanks everyone. Found a couple of solutions and had them send me quotes.

Around $2,500 for a pair of these: https://jps.com/products/nxu-2b/
And about $5,500 for these: 2W/4W E&M 600 Ohm and Dry Contact to IP - TC Communications

I received a comprehensive email from an engineer at JPS going into great detail how their devices deal with audio quality and signal loss (or lack thereof), which will be of utmost importance when dealing with function tones to & from the remotes. I'm leaning towards them for their technical information, and also the price is very attractive, especially considering the cost of the equipment they'll have to buy.

I have used JPS NXU's, older Raytheon ACU series, Telex IP223/224, and others such as the Avtec Scout Outpost IP interface equipment. All work, but in my own use case, I also needed to be able to program then easily via the network, not being at the box itself. This lead me to Zetron 6300 (6301 single link and 6302 dual link) devices, as well as the slightly customized MAX Radio Gateway (MRG) and iRIM (Intelligent Radio Interface Module).

All work, and for reliability the better devices will cost more money. many of these also come up at auctions for 9-1-1 call centers that are upgrading, so they might be on popular auction sites as well. I ended up with many Telex/Bosch Communications IP-223's that were sold along with Harris mobile radios, as they were rack mounted in some PSAP's back room equipment. Good luck on your search.
