The Radio Reference database that is programmed into the Uniden x36 and SDS scanner, is in error. The stock settings that your Uniden will come with for the RCS, and when downloaded from RR, will be NFM 12.5kHz bandwidth, and Standard 800 bandplan.

For all RCS sites, the modulation must be changed to 25kHz, and for all but the North site, the bandplan must be changed to custom. Noth may remain set to standard, but modulation must be changed to FM instead of NFM.

Uniden Custom Bandplan
Band 1 851.0250 854.0000 440 + 25
Band 2 851.0125 868.9875 0 + 25

Thanks for the tip Paul. I've been making the change to FM for years and all of my sites are already correct. I have about 50 sites to change the bandplans on though. How sure are you about the custom BP setting?:) I have to ask because my south sites have been working as standard.

Apparently, accordijg to Brian and Unitrunker, there are odd frequencies on the other sites that will cause missed transmissions once in a while. i was getting this with standard on my 996's...the scanner would blip the talkgroup then move on, as if it were encrypted, but it was because it was being sent to the wrong freq.

OK. I guess I better start making changes. I assume this affects Imp Co. as well.

I asked Brian to chime in...he has the Unitrunker bandplans read for the RCS, showing which bandplans wilL work for them. South has two odd frequenCies with weird LCN's that require rebanded.

Lets look at OLD RCS South Cell...
Many will think 'Standard' is working fine. It does 99% of the time.
but it will never decode on two of the frequencies on LCN522 and LCN543.
If the control channel ever switched to LCN522. You would need the rebanded band plan info.
LCN543 has the same amount of voice traffic as the other frequencies. So the 'Rebanded' info needs to be used.

Thanks for the help Brian. I wouldn't have realized what was happening.

This is all very interesting. I have to ask because I have GRE scanners - how does this affect them?

Same, you need the custom band plan regardless of the scanner brand. I just put up this Uniden specific post because the HP and SDS scanners all ship with the wrong modulation for San Diego 800MHz and no preprogrammed rebanded option at all.

For NextGen and SD City 700 you don't really need to put in a bandplan, the scanner will read it from the CC, but entering it manually may help speed up the scanner aquiring the system traffic.

For SD City and old RCS North, bandplan is "standard", for old south RCS and East you need to enter the rebanding data into the first two boxes as shown here.

Uniden Custom Bandplan
Band 1 851.0250 854.0000 440 + 25
Band 2 851.0125 868.9875 0 + 25

I don't think there is a YouTube video, but I guess I can send you a FL that has the bandplan for you to see how it looks in Sentinel?
