Back in the mid-80's, I spent a couple of seasons as a Seasonal FF w/CDF out of the Red Mountain battalion in Northern San Diego. Because we were relatively close, we were often first in as cover to the Hemet/San Jacinto. Because of this, I spent to time at Station 25, 26 and 27, and a couple of days in Beaumont (can't remember the station number). We were told the first time we got to Station 25 that if a call came in that was on the Soboba Res., to wait until we got a RSO escort, or we risked getting shot at. And, even with the escort, we would could still get shot at.
Kind of eye-opening experience for a young 20's kid from San Diego . . .
Guess things haven't changed all that much in 20+ years.
