Riverside County Sheriff - Hemet Ch-1 - Pursuit with shots fired now calling 11-99. Deputies say they are code 4 but their vehicle has been hit by gunfire. Suspect outstanding and deputies can see him parked up in the hills.

Thanks!

I've been scratching my head since 6 am when I got up. I fell asleep on the couch last night and woke up sometime during the night to sirens on the radio, but it was in the other room and I was too lazy to go see what was going on.

The command post is still up at 8:20 a.m. and I was wondering what I had missed!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

Mo info...

They finally ended the search at sunset Tuesday, unable to locate anyone. Castille Canyon on the reservation is always a source of activity and frequently involves gunfire. The road is on reservation property and there is pretty much "contempt" for the Sheriff's presence.

MAy be able to cut/paste link above. Story says the RSO shot and killed a a suspect during a foot pursuit earlier this week. (Friday). I was in Texas, missed that one!

Arriving somewhere, but not here . . .
Back in the mid-80's, I spent a couple of seasons as a Seasonal FF w/CDF out of the Red Mountain battalion in Northern San Diego. Because we were relatively close, we were often first in as cover to the Hemet/San Jacinto. Because of this, I spent to time at Station 25, 26 and 27, and a couple of days in Beaumont (can't remember the station number). We were told the first time we got to Station 25 that if a call came in that was on the Soboba Res., to wait until we got a RSO escort, or we risked getting shot at. And, even with the escort, we would could still get shot at.

Kind of eye-opening experience for a young 20's kid from San Diego . . .

Guess things haven't changed all that much in 20+ years.
