At present, I am programming SA PV. I ran across a section of SAPD that contained the following abbreviation, SAPD DIR Patrol. I would like to know what DIR mean?

I could be wrong but more than likely it is there directed patrol units. They patrol hotspots, gang activity, illegal gambling, Street racing, etc.

In the years I've monitored them I think they have only used those channels once maybe twice. As the the 19th SAPD is switching to the new system and will be encrypted.
Today's the 19th. Has anyone experienced "E" yet?
All SAPD talkgroups on the AARRS system are now encrypted. Everything is cross patched fine to the EDACS system where they are still in the clear, but they passed out a TON of new radios this morning to SAPD during the morning shift change.

It would be awesome if SAPD would work something out like Louisville Metro PD and stream their dispatch channels on a delay. But having met Chief McManus when I was shooting news in SATX, I learned he’s not exactly the most transparent police chief..
