Hi everyone, I've been lurking for a while and finally decided to join. This is a great resource. My question is, I frequently hear Sac PD and West Sac PD on 151.190, which is El Dorado County Fire West dispatch. I don't hear any other talk groups from the Sac City TRS system on this frequency, just Sac PD, (usually north dispatch), and every so often West Sac PD.

Just thought I'd see if anyone had any ideas about this phenomenon.

re: Sac pd

I'm not seeing any licenses for sac pd on that freq. You're either getting bleedover from a freq that Sac pd uses OR it is a possiblity that you are hearing rangers on AEU and not Sac Pd.

-do you hear it all the time or just at certain times

- Can you narrow it down to unit ID's?

The last but doubtful- Are you sure this is 151.190 and not 154.190 which is Sac City Fire simulcast dispatch freq?

Yes I'm sure it's Sac PD, and I'm sure it's on 151.190. I hear the same dispatcher voice calling out the same units as I hear when I'm listening to the Sac City TRS talk groups 48, 112, 144, 2800, etc (Sac PD groups). Like the first post said, I usually hear Sac PD north, (id 48) the most - calling out to the sector 1 and 2 units, (bravo 12, delta 25, etc).

I scan the Sac City and Country TRS systems, as well as El Dorado County Fire and Sheriff. It doesn't happen all the time but my scanner will sometimes stop on 151.190 and when it's not a ED County Fire dispatch, it's Sac City PD coming in crystal clear. I never hear anything else from the city TRS on this frequency, just PD. I hear it more when I'm using my scanner at work, which is up in El Dorado Hills, maybe that's something to do with it. Just the other day I heard a West Sac PD communication on it.

It's not a big deal. I was just curious about it. Thanks for the response.

Yeah it is weird. Like I said, it might only happen when I'm scanning at work, which is in EDH. Just one of those things that I wonder about you know? Thanks.

What PL does it show when you're hearing this? Also, do you have the step size right? I remember I was having a problem with hearing weird stuff while listening to CHP's repeaters. Had the wrong stepsize (too wide), even though the frequency was spot on.

I can't see the PL or don't know how to see it. Same with step size. I'm using a BC245 and I mostly hear it when I have it up in El Dorado Hills, but it is nothing regular. I guess it will just be another of lifes mysteries.

I know this thread is pretty much dead and I thank everyone for their replies, but it just happened again and even though I have delay set on that channel, whenever I hear Sac PD on 151.190, as soon as the transmission ends, it starts scanning again, like instantly - it does not hold for 5 seconds. When I hear El Dorado County fire dispatch on that channel it holds for 5 seconds.

This only seems to happen when I have my scanner at work, at my cubicle, in El Dorado Hills. Must be some interference or bleed over or something, but then why don't I hear other talk groups from the City TRS? Why do I just hear Sac PD?

Anyways, thanks again now I'm just _really_ curious.

re: pd

Are there any frequencies close to that freq maybe a security or other pd that might be simulcating Sac pd on their freq?

The nearest business allocated frqs. are 150.9875 below 151.19 MHz, and above it is 151.49 MHz. The frqs. surrounding 151.49 are Forestry Conservation allocated channels.

For those of you who miss Ripley's Believe It Or Not, here's an update on a strange problem that has gotten more strange. Now when I'm at work in El Dorado Hills I can hear Sac PD on 42.54 (CHP Placerville). Previously I heard Sac PD on El Dorado County Fire West. Who needs a trunk tracker when you've got this phenomenon, huh?

Perhaps your scanner is happy that you still keep it and not trading it away.
As a treat it's doing to throw out some random wacky reception.
