I must wonder what kind of radio you're using and perhaps how it's programmed. If you monitor "frequencies", you've explained exactly what you might hear. I am trunk-tracking the SRRCS P25 system and things are "normal" for me.

I am monitoring the four or five main frequencies only with a sds100 and sds200
They are coming up as unknown they are talking about picking people up dropping them off and bus problems

To properly monitor public safety in Sacramento county you need to program your SDS-100 or SDS-200 with the SRRCS, which is a P25 system. While there are 4 potential control channel frequencies, only one will be used at a time. You don't "scan" these frequencies, you scan the trunked system, which in turn will figure out the present active control channel.

While you can then operate in "ID Search", that opens the door to hearing garbage trucks, transiit buses and the like. Ideally you should program TalkGroups for what you want to hear and put the radio into "ID Scan" mode.

Because I didn't understand what he said. I have only the countywide Feed on (the only one I can get) I only have the four channels for control setup and I am scanning those four channels I have pd 0n 1.1.1 sheriff on 1.1.3 and west sac on 1.1.2 the other cities are set up similarly
