I've been scanning Sac. PD for a number of years and have know most of the identifiers, but am not sure of a few others. Does anyone know what type of units the following identifiers refer to? [And don't say "police units" : ) ]

Delta
David
Green
Tac

Obviously if divulging this is against policy or good "opsec," then please refrain.

Thanks in advance.

Delta is spd pop/gang officers. Green. Is the green haven pocket. Units. Tac are the a mix of swat/pop/iv guys. Gold units are off duty on.specials.

I believe the "David" call is a shift sign. You'll have calls that start with A through H (Henry, if memory serves me). It designates which shift the unit serves. As there are overlapping shifts, you will frequently hear differing ones at the same time.

A couple of others:
Sam - Sergeant
Lincoln - Lieutenant

I think "security" are off duty officers. From what I've heard, "gold" units are senior command staff officers that are usually only on the radio for large-scale events, since they seem to be the ones in charge for all of the events. Any more info on "gold"?

Also, the transient detail guys (Batman/Robin aka Zoolis and Cooper) were a "green" unit as well, even though they were on the river. I never figured out why they had that ID.

Just observations, no insider info.

Well, I THOUGHT I had a lot of it down.... Maybe not. For reasons I cannot recall, I thought "Gold" units were reserve officers working large events. The only time I've heard anyone on the radio above lieutenant (a "Lincoln" unit), was where there was an active shooter situation and a command staff was identified as "Six C-O." That was three to five years ago.

I'm skeptical of "Green" units being in Greenhaven; that area is in SPD district 4 so I would expect a district 4 unit to have that beat. Unless some community group in Greenhaven pays for an additional officer or something, but I just don't think that is the case. I'll have to listen to see whether Green units are only operating in that part of the city.

In the meantime, here's another: what's a "William" unit?

The Sheriff's William units are work project, and the work project offices are at N 5th and Richards, so it might be them popping up on SPD's channels to report something. If it's a PD unit, I have no idea.
