• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Ok so i know there have been several posts in the last few years in regards to Walmart radios etc. My question. I have done alot of searching and to no avail be able to locate what I need. Im a Lead at our Sams club here and also a radio operator. I also own commercial radios with programming capabilities. Im wanting to program our channel into my own personal radio since the battery life on ours is horrible. We use the RDM 2070. When I power on the radio is says Channel 3 Freq 7 code 53. The channel I understand the freq 7 and code 53 has me baffled. Any help would be great. Thanks

I would think the users manual for the RDM 2070 would have that info? 73, n9zas

If you own a scanner, do a search of the MURS band with added PL tone search. That should get you the info you need.

Clarification on Freqs

OK so last night at work i noticed I was wrong on my original question. When i power on the 2070 piece of crap lol it dispalys channel 3 freq 7 code 57 then goes back and just displays channel 3. Now with that said, I have permission from my GM to use my personal radio since i have the capabilities to program pretty much any brand except motorola. Im planning on using a new Vertex EVX 534 I have in stock on my shelf since its digital and well an awesome radio. Looking at the charts etc that several of you sent (Thank you) man this DPL crap has me lost in another world. Vertex being Motorola anyways, i should be able to program anything in these radios. The channel 3 I get, the freq 7 code 57 is still throwing me off. The code 57 must be DPL but any idea what freq 7 could be. If its on channel 3 it has to be simplex right?? I wonder if they are using a split system.

DPL Code

So according to the manual the Code 57 must be D131N so if I can just figure out what the crap Freq 7 means I may have this thing beat.

If you go to page 50 of the manual, you will find all the channel info your looking for. What is so hard about that?

Seriously? I believe i just posted that, and Jim there is nothing HARD about that, it was a simple question. This forum is to gain help and knowledge on problems we have with radios in general. I believe if you look at my question trying to figure out what the radio display of freq 7 means when the radio is on channel 3 is the reason I asked the question. And to verify if it wasn't hard would I be asking the questions in this forum. I think not.

It probably should've been mentioned that the RDM series is one of the lowest, consumer grade commercial radios Motorola sells. They are field programmable from a list of preprogrammed frequencies (all of which are defined in the user manual).

Anyway, that's the reason for much of the statements above…not a traditional programmable radio.
