I'm new to scanning and was hoping to be able to listen to the San Leandro Police. Does anyone know what frequency they are using? I have a radio shack pro-2054 if that helps.

Thanks!

You wouldn't be able to listen to them on that scanner. San Leandro uses a trunked system and your scanner does not follow trunked systems.

Also it doesn't support rebanding even if your scanner supported trunking.

Ok. Thanks for the info. Any recommendations on a scanner that would work? Preferably something that Radio Shack or a similar shop would carry?

GRE PSR-800 or GRE PSR-500 / Radioshack Pro-106 (basically the same scanner), or any of the uniden digital scanners as well.

A RS Pro-164 will follow that system as well.

You do not need a digital scanner for ALCO at this time.

Correct. However with Oakland's impending move to their P25 digital trunking system, and the P25 digital East Bay Regional Communication System which is going to replace ALCO (not anytime soon but it is under construction), a digital scanner would be a good investment.

Ok, I got a RS pro 164. Thanks for the advice on that because the guy at RS was clueless.

Can anyone tell me what frequency San Leandro Police uses?

EBRCS to come online starting end of the year partially.. time to invest in a digital.
If its anything like Oakland's P25, online is one thing, but you won't see any PDs on the system until 2015!

Hardly the time to invest in a digital scanner to monitor San Leandro PD.
