• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Wonder how many stations will do a Santa bol. Tonight. Anyone know
The last few years now Wayne County has used their main dispatch channel for this. Before that I used to hear it on Statewide 2 and Innercity.

Not sure about other departments. Seems like I've heard a couple others do it in the past, but not as consistent as Wayne County.

For the last several years, Calhoun County has done a "Santa Watch" on Christmas Eve up until the wee hours. We give hourly updates on his location and mention the countries he is visiting and their Christmas traditions. Since all of our LE talkgroups are encrypted, we use the three fire dispatch frequencies.

After browsing this last night I decided to turn on the radio just before midnight and caught Livingston County central dispatch issuing a BOL for Santa Claus and if located send him on his merry way. Dispatch signed off wishing all a Merry Christmas.
