Many things are very wrong with the ad. First it says the radios are 800MHz CDMA but a closer look shows them to be a dual band VHF/UHF amateur radio. There is no free public satellite service in any country that I know of.

The only way it could work as advertised is if you purchased some type of base station adapter similar to WiFi and there was another one across town or across the country it connected with to provide very short range back to the handheld.

Does it seem strange they keep referring to a "military transmission channel" and a nationwide public network? Do you really think the military uses these things or that there is some free public network that would allow some cheap walki talkies to work around the world for free? I don't think so.
