I recently purchased this scanner and am a complete novice. Right out of the box I managed to lock it up (Function L/O), could not unlock anything, called Uniden tech dept., was told to reset (hold,2,9,off), etc. That works so well I ended up with a scanner full of nothing. The Uniden 230 users manual is written for a more experienced user than me and I have yet to find any useful tutorials so here I am asking for help.
So far I have downloaded BCTool and have played with it a bit, downloading some frequencies to the scanner.
I've also downloaded Assafs Free scan but have not played with it yet.
My reason for purchasing the scanner in the first place was for listening at the racetrack. I have downloded all of the racing series frequencies from Racescanners.com using their FFCSC230 programming software with no problems at all.
Is it possible to listen to MRN Radio on channel 501(default channel) and monitor a few drivers (car numbers) automatically? If so how do I set that up on the scanner?
How do I protect frequencies already on the scanner from overwriting when I download a new set of racing frequencies?
How do I use L/O properly? Holding the Function Key and L/O simultaneously for 2 seconds does not unlock this scanner.
Is there a "Programming for Dummies" type tutorial out there for this scanner?
Hey folks, I know I'm asking a lot for my first time on this forum but your help will sure be appreciated.
