I will be in King of Prussia for a few days in April attending (you are invited and you will be there) 95° useless to me 8 hour long slide show meetings and was wondering if the State of Delaware Public Safety reaches that far. I will be taking along my 396XT with a Radio Shack 800MHz Scanner Antenna. As much as I wish I could bring a discone I think it would be rather uncomfortable under my coat and I gotta figure someone would probably notice it.The radials would make my jacket look like a hula skirt! Just wondering what my chances are hearing Delaware, New Castle County. Thanks, dave

Not really likely. The closest tower is near RT202/Naaman's but it radiates SE, not too much off the backside.

I believe you would be hard pressed with a YAGI to get it. Have a listen to Montco, Lower Merion, Philly...

I'm not sure getting Philly fire or police with a portable antenna is possible either. Their antennas are also directional.

Yea agreed. But montgomery county is a good listen as well as Chester County VHF and Delaware county. You may also be interested in the Chester county 800 but you have to plug in each freq individually. You might also get Bucks County T-Band TRS which is a good listen.

Most likely a no on Bucks. I'm a couple miles north toward Bucks and can barely get anything on a handheld. Philly depends on how leafy the trees are. By April, it might not be very easy to receive Philly from KoP. DE is a no. NJSP is doable, though, but it depends on exact location.

Give it a try. I pickup Del., Phila., and Bucks co. in the KoP mall area whenever I travel out that way using a RS pro106 with a 800Mhz antenna. Reception is decent.

I found this to be true as well. That's why its so critical we have volunteers who provide live feeds within the city. Good news is the Phila fire feed, which was hung on a control channel over the past few days, has now been fixed.

Thank you to those volunteers who give us access.

I second that! Being able to listen to Philly Fire on my iPod Touch through the Scanner911 app is great.

Didn't figure so. Just thought I'd throw that ? out here. Guess I'll have to settle for my Walkman for entertainment. Gotta do what ya gotta do.
Thanks all,
dave

I'm in southeast PA, not far from the Philly Airport and I very rarely get Delaware (state), I have New Castle and the State programed into my Pro-197, will get an ambulance call once in a while.

From where I'm at I never hear a CHESCO call either, but do great with DELCO, Phila., MONTCO and most of BUCKS CO. Have decent coverage of NJSP too.
