• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I am trying to figure out how pause a scan or lengthen the dwell time on a channel after transmitting. I don't have the ability for the "HUB suspends scan" to work as it is something with the mic I have that doesn't work. So when it is off hook it continues to scan. What I am trying to do instead of buying a new mic or turning scan off is to set how long the radio sits on the transmitted on channel before resuming scan.

For example; if I have the radio on FIREGROUND while the scan is on and then transmit on FIREGROUND, instead of the scan resuming immediately after the tx is done, have it sit on FIREGROUND for like 30 seconds or 60 seconds. Is this possible? Basically mimicing the "HUB suspends scan". I hope I am making sense.

Scan Config -->Radio Wide--> Voice Rx Tx hold time is your only option and like GTR8000 said, it probably won't work.

Is your mic clip properly grounded?

Voice Rx TX hold time only affects how long the radio dwells on the landed channel once the carrier drops. Setting that to 30+ seconds so that it holds on the channel you just transmitted on might work, however at that point you may as well just disable scan, since the radio is going to wait 30 seconds on every other channel it stops on during the course of normal receiving. Utterly pointless.

I’m a Harris guy so pardon my Mignorance, but is there no “scan after PTT” option? You could just have scan turn off after you TX, and manually resume scan when you are finished with the conversation.

I have the HMN4079C which I bought to replace my standard mic. The hub suspends scan works with the standard old mic but not with this new mic. The hub is grounded and exibits the same behavior on other radios. I got the mic replaced and the issue persists. That's why I was wondering I could mimic it.

Bummer. Guess I will have to continue disabling the scan like I had been.

Does the XTL have the car radio mute option like the MCS2Ks did?

If they do I can think of a terrible hack to almost maybe kinda-help you get what you want...i mean it would be a kludgy as hell mess...
