Great place for a scanner! I have never been told I couldn't have one. In fact you will see many people with them. Make a list of what freqs you have heard and share them. The 'Air Boss' is usually on a standard VHF freq. There used to be a website with great info, but I'm not sure if it's still around. I'm sure someone will help you. I will check my old books.

Re the Thunderbirds - the Mar 2006 MT has a slightly different list of freqs. Support Cross Country Air-Air is 140.4 (AM) , 142.575 (NBFM) is Program audio/Air Ground comms, 143.85 Diamond Formation, also Cross county air-air (AM), Control/Comm Cart on 235.200, 235.25 is Pre Engine Start and Solo aircraft on-off show center, and 322.95 is Engine Starts Solo Aircraft 5/6. 235.25 is shown as Uniform 1, 322.95 is Uniform 2.

The Maintenance/Ground teams all use NBFM (Narrow band FM), with some digital mixed in. The freqs are:
142.175
143.900
413.000 (digital)
413.025 both analog and digital channel 1
413.100 both analog and digital channel 2
413.250
413.275
413.350 digital
413.375 digital

Like Larry wrote in his article, a spare set of batteries is a must, as is a good set of headphones....

73s and good hunting....Mike

140.200000
141.40000

235.25000,
269.90000

it sure adds to the show when you can hear all the ships talking and the singing to each other.

Last year I took two scanners to a show at Andrews AFB in MD. The scanners were in plain sight and none of the numerous armed guards (not side arms, big M16s and wearing full body armer) blinked twice. I was even listening to their TGID while standing next to one of the guards.
