I have recently installed a metal roof and then reinstalled my scanner antenna. I have three questions.

1. Does anyone know does the metal roof affect my scanner antenna ?? As far as increase or decrease reception. Havent noticed much yet but with summertime skip hard to tell yet.

2. Do I need to do any extra grounding or just the normal ground ??

3. Should I move scanner antenna awat from sat dish????

Thanks apreciate all comments.

1. This depends on the frequency, type of antenna, type of mast, distance between the metal roof and antenna...so many factors. Potentially the metal roof would act as a giant untuned ground plane, but without more information it's impossible to project this

2. 'Normal Ground'? What's that? Station grounding has been covered ad nauseum in this forum; use the search tools to find the applicable threads. In most cases, it's not the antenna that needs grounding, but the mast is another matter...

3. You didn't say anything about how far apart they currently are, but I suspect there would be some interaction - probably not a great deal - at certain frequencies. Again, more information is needed
