From Dispatch Monthly:
If you have an iPhone, you can now listen to public safety radio channels by tapping into the network of private scannerists who connect their radios to the Internet. You can download the FStream application from Apple's app Store. You can then determine the URL of the stream that you want to monitor from the Scan America Web site (http://www.scanamerica.us) on your computer. You then go back to your iPhone and the FStream application, go to "Favorites," and press the "Edit" button. Press "Add new webradio," and enter the URL and a descriptive name. Leave the format and bitrate boxes blank. You'll have to select "Enable Cellular Network" from the "More…" menu unless you're connected to the Web via Wi-Fi . Now press the "Play" button in the bottom menu, and the stream name you entered should be listed. Press on the stream name and you'll shortly hear the scanner audio. [If you have iTunes on your computer, go to http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewSoftware?id=289892007&mt=8 to view FStream's download page. FStream will also receive radio broadcasts that are streamed on the Internet.]
