I purchaser the Speco a few months back. Not happy with it at all. I am assuming it is not filtered, the auxio is very scratchy. I am using it with a BC 396XT in my truck, I needed to boost the audio. This was loud enough, but poor quality. I am now using a radio shack amplified speaker that is great!

I was looking at the Scanner Master website and I noticed that they have two amplified external speakers. I am just curious if anybody here has either or these and how well they work?

It looks like the Speco is http://www.specotech.com/product/475/AES4.html a 10 watt speaker

If you live near a large city there is probably a surplus radio or electronics store where you might find a Motorola or GE or other make used mobile amplified speaker for around $10.
I have had several over the years and they can't be beat for sound and volume.

Dick would you happen to have a link or location where someone could pick up one of the motorola amplified speakers?
I had one before I moved and somehow lost or left it! :(
The r/s one that I have does the job, but can't beat the moto speaker!

Thanks!!

I knew of places 20 or 30 years ago in Boston and there are two that I know of in Portland, OR, but nothing in your area. The phone book is the best I can suggest. Sorry.

What about a new Moto speaker, say the RSN4001A or RSN 4003 models? Would they work with a scanner after the plug has been modified?

I have this speaker on my Pro 2006 and it is AWESUM!!!!!

I also have one of those but if the OP is wanting an "amplified" speaker, this is not the one as it is not amplified. They work well for scanners with crappy speakers though. I don't like the noise cancelling feature as it lowers the audio level too much.

I love the tech specs listed at Amazon for this one, they say this speaker has "five hundred watts" of power!!

I use Motorola HSN4039 speakers... they are WAY loud. HSN4039 13W External Water Resistant Speaker http://forums.radioreference.com/pi...1-2011-jeep-patriot-newsphotog-rig-3-0-a.html

I also use some really old Motorola speakers at home. They can usually be found cheap at a state auction or a ham auction or hamfest. They are all exceedingly loud for my needs.
