• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

And which scanner?

There are times when software on a CD isn't the most up to date version. But you shouldn't have to pay a separate fee to update it - normally there's a website you can go to for this...

I already purchased the scanner program on a CD. Why do i have to buy it again so i can use it?
Many software programs, delivered on Disk or Download, require registration/activation. This is often done via a registration/activation "key". Over many years, I've seen the key provided by File on Disk, Label on Disk, Label on Disk Protective Case, USPS, email, and Website. It may "appear" that a second purchase is required, when only a registration/activation key needs to be utilized.

Don't know what software that is. I have a RS programming cable that I bought to interface with a PRO652 but never used the software on the disk, or even looked to see what it was. Used Arc or one of the mainstream apps, mainly just to back up what I manually programmed to the radio.

None of these radios need a programming cable if you manually program them, it just makes it a little faster. Also, in my case, gave me the ability to backup what I manually programmed.

Bottom line... can't help you with whatever software is on that disk, which we still don't know what it is.
