...sorry if this is a dumb question (yeah I'm a newbie :| ) but I was wondering if any of the Uniden scanners allow you to scan a bank of freqs while listening to another freq?

None of the Uniden scanners, nor any of the GRE manfactured scanners sold at Radio Shack, are capable of that exactly. It would require two completely separate receivers in the scanner to be able to do it. It would obviously increase the cost of the unit, and the two receivers in close proximity (in the same case) possibly could interfere with each other.

Your best bet is to get a high-speed scanner and then a more specialized communications receiver for that sort of thing. Look for stuff with the scanner, tune in close with the receiver.

Why not just program the freq that you want to listen to into one of the other banks and set it as a priority?
