Hi

I'm relatively new to SDR, its like a whole new view of the world I'm seeing. So please excuse my noobness.
I was wondering, is there software that I can set to constantly scan a frequency range, say for example from 40MHz to 1000MHz, and make a note of possible transmissions on a frequency. Kinda like an old time war dialer.
Say make it move up and down slowly across the range until stopped and when it picks up a possible signal/transmission, it add it to a log file. Obviously it'll pick up noise and interference too, so it wont be perfect.
I currently have a normal RTL-SDR USB dongle and a HackRF One.

Thanks! Looking forward to learn much muuuuch more about RF

sdrsharp (SDR# and Airspy Downloads - airspy.com)
(updated) Frequency Scanner plugin (see SDR# - SDR# Plug-in: Frequency Scanner updated)

Create search ranges to suit what you are after and let rip. It will create log files of activity in text and csv formats. Labels for what it finds can be customised and if you create a frequency.xml file it will use the entries from that as labels as well. It has the ability to automatically lock out frequencies (birdies etc.) based on length of time active etc etc. Very powerful combination ;)
