I am sure you could possibly monitor a site out of Monroe Co or Randolph Co. At this very moment I don't know where the site is in Randolph but there is a site in Waterloo in southern Monroe.

I have tried all of them! Haha. I’ll give it another shot. I’m getting ready to do some antenna upgrades as well. In Festus I cannot receive St. Louis county and city until I get a half of mile up my road and that bugs me!

The antennas are probably set up specifically to broadcast towards illinois. Receiving on the back side will probably be somewhat difficult

The Festus site was put up to cover the river bottoms. They had coverage issues from the Waterloo site because of the bluffs. You’re probably not going to hear much on it unless someone is down there affiliated to it. Likely going to be mostly Ameren IL and Monroe co sheriff.

have you tried monitoring Festus? Any traffic on it? I’ve caught a few talkgroups on it in the past.

So, any antenna ideas would be appreciated!
If you can get them outside and up, yagi antennas. I would point a yagi towards Waterloo. Or you could try pointing at one of the St. Clair Sites particularly the one in East Carondelet. I seem to have good coverage from St. Clair until I get to Valmeyer down in the river bottoms.

Monroe Co has 2 sites:
Columbia (at Columbia PD)
Waterloo (Ahne Road)

Randolph Co actually has 4 sites as of right now:
Modoc/Evansville (St. Leo Road)
Chester (Sitco Site/Ameren Tower)
Menard Correctional Facility (likely very small coverage area, used for the prison)
Sparta (Holloway Road)

Festus Site is on Johnson Road on the river bluffs.

Rumor is another tower going up in Red Bud area soon.

I'm on the Missouri side of the river (Just west of Forest Park) I get 1-2 bars from the St Clair site. I hear some district 11 chatter but never heard anything from ESL police or St Clair sheriff office.

EStL PD is on Law 5
Sheriff is on Law 1

if you're picking up St. Clair and hearing D11 you'll hear everything else. That site is very busy.

Consider yourself lucky if you can hear anything that far from St. Clair Co. All of their signals are and antenna directions are designed to keep most everything inside the county.
