I had my SDS100 screen to turn off when the scanner was not receiving, but I made some changes in Sentinel uploaded the changes and now the screen is not turning off. What do I need to get the screen to turn off when the scanner is not receiving?

check your backlight settings.

menu --> display options --> backlight options.

Depends on your settings, but depressing the power button once will turn it back off.

Check the settings in your Sentinel profile. Sounds like you reset the back light settings when you wrote the recent update to the radio. Or check/change via the menu on the radio till the next time you need to update.

Menu
Display options
Backlight options
Set timer
Squelch: Open Squelch
Keypress: Infinite

Is what I have..

After trying the above steps, the scanner still stays on.

u2brent mentioned both methods (via sentinel and more relevant via directly onto the radio itself).
If you have verified the settings are correct ON the radio as you said you did and still not working, then I'd on the radio, reset user setting (via menu), see if it is back to normal, then sync your sentinel settings back to the scanner (of course make sure the sentinel ->display options setting are properly set).

IDK, I'd try setting it in Sentinel and write to the scanner again. Beyond that I'm out of ideas..

And it goes without saying, that (after updating these settings) that I need to press the button once to turn it off initially and then it behaves as expected. [until I touch the volume/squelch/menu/key press again, then have to tap pwr once more to get the light off again, but that's actually the way I prefer it to work]

Perhaps the External Power setting has changed, IDK if your using an external pwr source or running on battery.
Good luck..

I am running the scanner off the computer power, USB port. I set the setting as above and the display goes blank after a transmission, but now there is a white flash above the screen on the led on the left which I never has seen before.

The white flashing LED is a visual indicator that you can turn on/off. It indicates that a transmission was received on a given frequency. It can be coded for blue for LE, red for FD, white for aviation, etc.

That's neat, where in Sentinel would I set the colors?

The White Flashing LED behavior can't be modified (Beyond OFF/ON) it merely indicates the scanner is active and scanning during normal operations and the back light is off.

What can be changed is an LED Alert Light indicator assigned to a specific Frequency or TGID in your FL's during an active call.

Use the FL editor to change these settings in Sentinel, They can be changed via the Menu by drilling down to the Edit Menu for a specific CH or TGID. (I don't believe you can make these changes in the Full DB, Just an item in an FL)

There was a bug in the function to turn on display light when monitoring a DMR talk group. When the call started it was still off and when the call ended the light where turned on. Don't know if it has changed in later firmwares, I always have the backlight on nowadays as power consumption are pretty much the same.

I'm pretty sure that issue was fixed in an update along the way. [IDK which FW version]
It doesn't happen on the DMR's I follow currently (Neither Conventional/OFT or Trunked). :geek:
