what is the correct way to back up the SD card that came with the new scanner. I have a card reader on the computer and was wondering if I could store a copy of the files onto the home computer and copy them to a NEW SD card when I purchase a new SD Card. Thank You for your time. appreciate your help

Just copy the whole SD card, mark the files and folders in the root, the top of the library, and save to your harddrive as a backup.

In the event that you screw up your Sentinel files, overwrite them with an unintentional read or other actions that mess them up, you wont be able to use Sentinel to recreate your setup.

I, and probably many more, keep two SD cards up to date. A 8GB or 16GB card doesn't cost much and the 8GB are often on sale as people want bigger cards for their cameras and phones. When I program my scanner I also make it a habit to program another card using the card reader.

I go about things a little differently. . .

First I'll make a duplicate SD card and keep it somewhere near the scanner. (Some folks suggest taping it somewhere on the scanner).

Then on my home computer I have a "Uniden SD Card Back-up" folder. Using my Copy and Paste function, in Windows Explorer, I'll copy everything in the SD card to this folder. Then if I have an issue, I can reformat a new card and copy that Back-up folder to the new card. (That saves the Clear User Data step). Of course my full database, Favorites Lists and Profile is out-dated, but I can deal with that in Sentinel.)
