Hi all

I’m curious to ask if anyone has tried using a USB games console controller with SDR#?

I have read about a Russian guy who produces such a device with a large tuning dial for VFO and there is also the DIY version by hacking a USB mouse for the scroll wheel.

Anyway, I am most interested in using a games controller for changing frequency in steps (12.5 kHz etc). I’m surprised direct entry isn’t supported yet.

Thank you.

In SDR#, with mouse hovering over the VFO frequency you can enter the frequency.
eg. If you want 435.2 MHz, then hover mouse over the hundreds MHz and type in frequency then press enter.
eg. If you want 1.844 KHz, then hover mouse over the MHz and type in frequency then press enter.

This works for at least SDR# 1490 and up.

The idea with SDR# are that you can see if there are a signal in the FFT spectrum display and can click on it to listen. If there's no signal shown you wont hear anything. So no need to frequency increment a channel at a time to try and find a signal. If it is monitorable it will show in the spectrum display, it's that sensitive in its display.

I'm sure you are aware of that if you hover the mouse pointer over any frequency digit you scroll it from the mouse wheel. So I don't really see a reason for any hacking or games controller. That's probably the reason why it is such a rare topic to find, there's nothing to fix.
