I don't think this is an issue, but thought I'd ask. I have a long wire antenna in my attic for receiving with my SDR. I also recently got a 4 ft vertical for transmitting on VHF/UHF with my HT (it's only 5 watts max). The wire is in another room up there, but in the general vicinity as the vertical. I have two feed lines running down into my room, one from the long wire and the other from the antenna. Is it alright to have the SDR connected to the long wire when transmitting from my HT? It wouldn't be powered on, or if it were, I don't think I'd be on the freq I'm transmitting on. Since I'm asking, what it it were tuned to my transmit freq? I'm assuming it'd be a BIG signal since the transmitter it like 20 ft away from the wire antenna, but could it damage anything?

Talked about in other thread... somewhere.
OFF or ON or ON and tuned to different frequency offers no protection. There is a max RF input allowed before damage and varies to a degree among the different manufactures. Not easy to clearly know in advance what your shack setup will pump into the SDR. My transceiver and SDR are never in play at the same time.
Good Luck!
