Looking into building my own SDR Phase2 Scanner setup with two RTL's (one dedicated to control channel, the other for voice channels) running on either a windows platform or Rasbury Platform (Probably Windows with RDIO).

Then create a translator app/api to translate / decode / encode / emulate the Uniden serial protocols to Proscan via Serial.

Basically emulate a BDC996P2 without the $$$ of one.

I currently own two Uniden Scanners, a BCT15X and a BDC996XT, which are both running Proscan on a dedicated PC for my own nerdy adventures. This project will allow me to start monitoring P2 TDMA.

Anyone done this already? I'd hate to reinvent the wheel... haha

Doesn't seem that hard.

Can I ask why you want it to go to proscan though?

I am biased towards Proscan because of its simplicity, vast features, and I am fairly proficient at using it. As stated above I use it for my existing Uniden Scanners and self host a web GUI:

I also use the following apk to monitor my feeds on my android devices via internet from my house CustomRadioPlayer - Basic URL-RadioStream App - Apps on Google Play

You might want to consider using sdrtrunk in combination with Trunking Recorder to act as a Phase 2 scanner. Trunking Recorder has a web interface for monitoring that actually gives you an advantage over a scanner by recording all transmissions and queuing them for near real time playback so you don’t miss any transmissions for the talk groups you monitor. I actually have a browser open with Trunking Recorder about 3/4 screen on my laptop and can fit up to 4 instances of Proscan using borderless display at the bottom to monitor my Uniden scanners. if you have a large monitor or multiple monitors you’d have additional flexibility.

I’d actually like to find a way for Trunking Recorder to import Proscan recordings so that I can capture Unitrunker, sdrtrunk and Proscan recordings monitor in one interface.

Perhaps you would like to have a look at Rdio-scanner that deals with SDRTrunk and Proscan, and more:

I will look at Rdio-scanner again. I was considering using it with Trunk Recorder, but was never able to perfect the configuration of the software on the Linux box I built before I discovered sdrtrunk. I was able to get sdrtrunk to work right out of the box on Windows. Since I was already using Trunking Recorder with Unitrunker I used its sdrtrunk import feature. However, I had considered revisiting Trunk Recorder to capture some analog frequencies not handled by sdrtrunk. I would just have to spend some more time tweaking the configuration files.

Well now Rdio-Scanner can work very well on Windows (and Android nad iPhone). So in the meantime I am quite happy with SDRTrunk + Rdio-Scanner in Windows.

I am completely new to the whole sdr trunking stuff, does RDIO run on Linux or Windows or both? Not the UI but the host side.
