Getting ready To jump in the deep end of SDR.

Been looking at several units by patriotwave vs individual rtl-sdrs
The units say they are dual channel and run about $50 and come with antennas. . anyone know anything about their systems. Need to use SDRTRUNK as everyone here is on p25 phase 2

That looks like a waste of money, I would strongly suggest you buy a few genuine V.3 rtl sdr dongles from the official RTL SDR store. You can get them on Amazon here. You will also need an adapter or jumper to get from SMA to whatever your antenna connector uses. I use BNC jumpers for all my RTL dongles.

If you don't currently have an antenna, you will need to get that separately from a place like scanner master or Antenna Farm. I would strongly suggest against buying packages from the RTL store with antennas, you're better off getting a good antenna separately, and buying only dongles from the rtl sdr store.

Agree with nate, the blogs have been out of stock, nooelec nesdr v4's can be found on Amazon also. Diy 1/4 ground plane antennas would work great.

That patriot/eBay imo is bulk purchased low quality, they had a batman looking one that was kinda cool looking visually

The RTL-based SDRs are much more widely supported in software than some of the higher-end devices, plus you get redundancy.

Not sure what you want for antennas, but for mobile or temporary use, the Larsen NMO150/450/758 and an NMO mag mount is a pretty good and not-too-expensive multi-band upgrade from a DIY single-band ground plane. They make NMO groundplane kits if you want to mount it more permanently, too.

Can you link some?
I've been trying to find a "not amazon crap grade one" and have not found any that aren't in the 100$ range.
