SDRPlay RSP1B vs Nooelec V5

Why am I seeing this difference between the two tuners? The SDRplay has very uneven lines with poor signal quality and distortion compared to the Nooelec v5 that is working much cleaner. The gain is set to about the same range on both tuners. They are both tuned into the 770. MHZ range. The picture with the even lines is the Nooelec.

You need to run any of the SDRPlay RSP's to more RF Gain because the mirics has a higher noise floor at low rf gain and less noise at higher rf gains. I run it in SDRTrunk with IF AGC to keep it from overloading. RTL-SDR and SDRPlay uses two different chipsets. SDRPlay RSP1b and RSP1a does remarkably well following the local APCO P25 systems. Just max RF Gain + IF AGC.

What he showed is what I see when I set gain too high on any of my SDRs.

Click the tuners tab beneath the waterfall display, select your SDR on the left then post a screenshot of your LNA & IF settings for the SDRPlay

The only tuner settings I have are LAN and IF. I don’t have an option for mode. Sorry don’t have access to a screen shot at this time.

That's what he is looking for.

When I said, "And include the spectrum, like this." my pic was a general pic showing whats helps people help you. You may not have Mode like what's pictured in my pic. Many times people will post a pic of just the settings and we can't see the spectrum. Sometimes people post pics that are useless.

Sorry don’t have access to a screen shot at this time.
Any time you are using SDRTrunk, you have access to screenshots. I prefer Windows snip but SDRTrunk can take its own screenshots.
