SDS 100 Multifunction Knob Malfunctioning.

Lots of issues with this scanner.
First the Solder Joint and now this..


Multifunction/Volume Knob keeps malfunctioning.
Sometimes it works right but more often than not it's doing this.
It's the same in the menu it just goes up/down and back up.
Or down up back up

Any ideas...hopefully something I can do myself?

I did just figure out I can sometimes adjust the volume If I keep it pressed down.

Knob issues are one symptom of the solder joint issue. All of the signal lines from the knob pass through J401.

I never counted the connections on J401 but doesn't it contain at least two rows of 25 or 30 connections for 50 to 60 total solder points?

That's a lot of possible signals that may be passing through that one connector between the two boards.

It's a 40-pin connector, so 80 total solder joints.

That's a lot of potential signals that could be flowing through the connector!
It sure would be nice to have a service manual or even just a schematic so you could see exactly what is on each pin.
