I have read several post but I just cant figure out how to enter the "full serial number '. Obviously I'm registering my unit to get the replacement battery upgrade. I'm not able to enter the full serial number into the serial number line on the registration file. I cant get the full serial number in and I don't see a second box ( is there a second box?) for the checksum numbers. Please help

Look up the number in the scanner menu. That is where you will find the checksum.

Enter the serial number (not the ESN). Then, save and go back into the record. It the prompts you for the ESN and Checksum.

So when I go to settings , then firmware and it shows SN# that's not the serial number? It does however show the checksum correct?

Maybe a better question is what's the difference in the ESN and SN? Where are they found separately.

Thanks for all the advice, I kind of feel ignorant that something so simple is causing me issues

ESN is in scanner menu. SN is in battery compartment.

If you are not planning to purchase a waveform upgrade, is it required to enter the ESN for the battery upgrade?

Yes, to prove you own a scanner eligible for the free battery.
