On my BCD536, when a department keys up their radio, it shows if it was a portable or a truck. On my SDS 100, it doesnt show that, did i do something wrong when i programed it?
Thanks

You could have. Try changing the display setting from Simple to Detailed, either directly in the scanners menu or in Sentinel and then program.did i do something wrong when i programed it?

Do I have to use sentinal or go into the scanners settings ?In the SDS profile you need to enable the Unit ID Name field instead of just Unit ID field. The 536 displays UID alpha tags automatically (provided they are in your programming). The SDS requires more fiddling to get them displayed because there are so many more things to manipulate on the screen.
125h is likely a SYS ID not a UID, The h following the number simply means the value being displayed is a hexadecimal value. (Could also be a P25 NAC of 125)

ThanksNo, but the next time you write from sentinel it will revert back. You can do it via the radio menu..
You need to save it in your sentinel programming profile so it remains your default setting. Instead of correcting it every time you update from Sentinel.

If he makes the changes in the scanner, and then reads from the scanner first, the next time he connects to sentinel, will it not be saved in the program, thus eliminating the need to redo it every time??No, but the next time you write from sentinel it will revert back. You have to setup a DMR One Frequency system. Don't let the name fool you. It acts as a conventional system but with TGIDs and UIDs.i've had my sds 100 for a couple of months now and am very pleased with its performance. I've customized my displays, created favorites lists and use gps for location control. I've even figured out how to load a custom start up picture, now I'm obsessed with unit id's. I'm currently in the 30 day trial using Proscan, and have been logging traffic for 2 days. One of the biggest things i've noticed is the amount of different users on my local systems. I think i'm on the right path for the Unit ID's with the trunked departments, but I'm more interested in custom names for my county law enforcement users which is a DMR system. I can change the name under UID after lookup on Pro scan but how can I get that info into my radio? I am familiar with adding UID Name in the display settings in Sentinal and am getting that for trunked systems but how can I do that on a conventional DMR?
quite the little task, but I'm liking the results! Thanks for the direction! You have to setup a DMR One Frequency system. Don't let the name fool you. It acts as a conventional system but with TGIDs and UIDs.
Though it's one frequency, traffic is typically carried on two time slots allowing 2 transmissions to share the same channel, thus the need to have to program it as a "system"You have to setup a DMR One Frequency system. If you have no issues with other systems using the same frequencies and system type that are within your coverage, then setting everything to search are the best option. The less you can restrict reception by introducing different type of filtering the better it will be. Even the slightest false decode of the signal would otherwise make the scanner mute and/or move to next system or similar unwanted action. Even better if you can run with ID search enabled.IS IT BEST TO LEAVE THE COLOR CODE IN SEARCH?
