Hello,

Thought I'd ask before trying:

Have a new SDS 200.

Can I take a line from the Head Phone Jack output on the Scanner to "some" input on my W10 pc ?

Would be nice to hear the audio from the speaker(s) hooked into the pc, if practical.

If doable, which input on pc ? The light green colored one one the back ?

The "line In" one, or... ?

Any caveats or restrictions in doing it ?

Thanks,
Bob

I would try using the one marked 'line in'. Start with both volumes at very low levels and adjust as necessary. It should work fine.

Line in/out are the audio source before amplification for speakers (headphones or louder speakers).
This would be good for recording audio and setting up a feed. You should be able to use the line out scanner to line in PC to get proper levels into pc speakers. You would use the computers audio controls to then adjust volume on the computer speakers.
In theory this should be what your looking for.

I don't follow the sds200 closely, but I would recommend checking for other posts discussing the headphone jack connection. Reason being is other Uniden scanners have used a design where the audio out of the headphone jack does not have a common side as expected. Using a headphone is not an issue. Plugging into a PC that is built with the common as common to the PC chassis and the SDS200 is not could be a problem. Something to check on...

Don't do any of the above. The SDS200 can stream the audio digitally, which will have better sound quality than any analog audio connection. You're not limited to having the scanner in the same room, as the computer and you don't have to screw around with the mandatory isolation transformers when using an analog connection. You can even have the scanner in a different country if you set up a VPN connection.
