Hello,

Have a SDS 200 which I haven't used for about 2 years.
Have it going again, and seems to work fine.

One problem, though.

When on it's speaker, all sounds normal.

But when my earphones are plugged in, there are very sharp noise "spikes/pulses".
Can't correlate it with anything; seems random.
Only thru Headphones. Headphones and cable are fine.

Anyone else experience anything like this ?
Any thoughts on what might be causing ?

Thanks,
Bob

What headphone are you using? Are they high impedance, if so try using some that are 8 ohms, less sensitive.

It is likly the Digital Noise problem that is worse on the Headphone/External speaker jack then the internal speaker.
@BOBRR, lift up your scanner and put the speaker to your ear, do you hear digital noise similar to what you hear in the headphone?

Hi,

Thanks for your help with this.
Appreciate your time.

Here's what I (think) I know to date.

Unit hasn't been used for probably a good 2 years, but seems to work just fine
A lot to remember, though.

Noise level(s) are probably about what you would expect thru internal speaker when listening.
But, if using the front headphone jack, whenever it scans to a new channel, or a conversation kicks in, a Very
loud sharp noise spike on the change, then pretty normal.

Noise spike does not happen if Headphones plugged into the rear speaker jack (which I probably shouldn't do ?),
or thru internal speaker.

Thoughts ?

BTW, might you know the electrical characteristics of the front headphone jack, and the rear speaker jack ?
Impedance, voltage out, etc. ?

Best regards,
Bob
