Hello,

Unlike scanning the other trunked systems in my area, when I scan Camp Pendleton Fire I do not see any sites nor can I lock any sites even though this is a trunked system. Am I missing something here? Thank you in advance for the help/clarification.

Yes, I am able to pick up the Fire Command channels just fine actually. I just don't see the sites being scanned. Could it be that the site names are too long so they are not shown on the screen?

You can rename the sites, try naming them Site 1, Site 2, etc, but if you are picking up the TGs then they are scanning fine.

This should be posted in the San Diego thread group in the California forum, not general scanning. Hit report at the bottom of your post and ask a moderator to move it. You will get a lot more replies if you do so.

@n0esc pointed you to the right system. You have to be careful when looking at mil systems in the DB. There are 2 systems with a (14c) sysid. Pendleton is the Phase II system. There are several sites in SD For Pendleton. In Oceanside I could hear the Akron Hill site and in Vista I hear the Buffalo Bump site. Father south, you might hear Woodson. I always lockout sites other than the local one to speed up scanning.

Ran on a few calls up on I-5 in Camp Pendleton the past few weeks. Woodson carries CPFD Dispatch always, but if you want the command or tac channels you would need another site. I found Buffalo Bump carries Dispatch and Commands always, and has the best southernly signal (driving up the I-5 from metro) for those non dispatch talkgroups if you need to hear them. I try not to let my scanners have too many sites scanning becauee on an SDS when you hold on something the sites still rotate in the background and can cause missed teansmissions if you allow too many.

Oh yeah, PMO on "Tac 1" (they use Tac 1 for dispatch) is also always active on Woodson as well.

They do have encryption on radios and not always turned on. It isn’t strapped and is user toggable

So is the old VHF frequency not in use?
Fire is dispatched on 149.775 (167.9). They're told to run the calls on what sounds like TRS channels, "Command" and "Tac" which I don't seem to have loaded in my scanner :) Camp Pendleton units are 27x and can be heard on NorthComm channels on the RCS when running calls off the base or with NorthComm units.

I think I used to know this, but what are "TRS" channels? I'm getting older and the memory is not working like it used to. :(
