I am getting a new 2021 F-150 in a few days and would like to make a permanent installation of my SDS200 in the truck. It looks like there are a couple of options on where to place the radio in the truck but not sure how feasible they are.

Has anyone else have an SDS200 installed in an F-150. If so would you mind sharing a few pictures and/or details of your installation and how well it works for you?

Thanks!

You may want to check the Police equipment catalogs. They make communications consoles of all sizes just for the 150.

Depends on the interior, what your budget is, and how far you want to go.
The F150/F250/F350/F450 interiors are all similar, so installations on those trucks can be copied. Also, there are several posts regarding two way radio installations in these trucks, yours would be the same, except for the microphone.

If you are doing a permanent install, please consider extending that all the way out to the antenna. A properly installed antenna outside the vehicle (preferably on the roof) makes a big difference.

The radio consoles can be nice, but for a single radio are often overkill. What you can look at, if you have the center console, is some of the adapter plates that sit under the arm rest/center console that will allow you to mount a radio easily.

And do not forget that you now have an aluminum body so you cannot use a mag mount antenna :(:(

What interior configuration do you have? Bench seat or full length center console?

I've got a 2020 Lariat with the center console. That's where the '200 is mounted. I use a vehicle specific antenna mount at the fender. I use the GPS kit and an amplified speaker.

I hope a remote head comes sometime soon or some kind of viable solution. Opening and closing console lid for volume adjustment is a pain. Great for security though as it can be locked.

I had a similar setup in my old F-150 Lariat and I agree - opening and closing the console lid every time gets annoying. It does give a nice clean look when closed though!

I had done a similar install in an Expedition I had for a few years and I just removed the screws from the hinge. This way I could remove the console cover when using the radios and replace it when parked to hide the radios. My wife liked the idea as she didn't have to look at the radios when she drove the truck.
