I am hoping it's possible, but.... I have my SDS200 installed in my car and monitoring the full database using location based scanning with my GPS. I'm wondering if I can load my UIDs for my local area so they show up?

I know this is possible when using Favorite Lists, but I don't want to duplicate scanning if possible and just use the full database.

Your UID's only show up in your Favorite list it that is what is being scanned not the Full Database or other Favorite List.

I was afraid of this since I couldn't find a way to add my UID's.

Okay, another question, if I have my local area setup as my favorite list and scan it as well as the full database, is there a way to not scan this area when scanning the full database. Essentially so that I'm not scanning the same frequencies twice since they would be located in both lists.

Or is my only option is to scan my favorite list when local, then when I travel out of my local area I have to stop, and turn on to scan the full database?

Why don't you build Favorites in your area and scan that way?
I run Several Favorites List I run in 5 states in large areas and very my list by travel schedule.
Proscan works better for this than Sentinal.
All GPS Location Controlled.

It is always better to build favorite lists.

Always keep this in mind: The more you scan, the less you'll hear.

I'm trying to make things easier. I had done this in the past and ended up running out of memory in the scanner for everything, but can't remember if that was the SDS200 or one of the 996's. I travel all over and don't want to have to repeat what is already in the full database when traveling to cover where I'm going. I can, it is just a pain.

When I use location scanning and choose which services I want to hear, I'm not scanning a lot, basically the same types of agencies within 10-20 miles of my location.

Not true that is why I run 4 scanners in the car/van and over 20 at home.
Several Scanners with tighter areas equals hear more.

LOL, that is a bit much for me. I only want 1 scanner in the vehicle with me. I can't imagine having to have to funds to have 4 of these scanners in the care, that's about $3k. :)

Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong, but with memory card scanners, just get a bigger card...(?)
Unless you are recording, it is VERY hard to run out of memory in these radios.
It is also important to remember, that with trunking, your radio is 'listening' to sites, not trunk groups, so you can have a heck-of-alot of trunkgroups programmed and not go anywhere near "running out of memory".

As to the easy part.
The effort you put in, is directly proportional to the results you get.
Since you said you have GPS, by not taking the time to program favorites, you are not taking full advantage of the radio's capabilities.
If you remember what I said above ("sites"), by programming favorites, you can also control which ones/where.

You can have up to 256 Favorites Lists for the sds200. There is a 1MB size limit on each Favorites list. This is a hardware limitation of the CPU RAM.

Please show me the MATH Sentinel Favorite List shows numbers 00-99 I know I am old but that adds up to 100 FAVORITES LIST.
You can scan up to 256 Favorites Lists (but there are only 100 Quick Keys-available once for each Favorites List) along with or just the database.
So in reality there are only 100 usable.

Yes - There are 100 FLQKs (00-99). You do not have to assign a FLQK to a favorites list. You can save up to 256 different Favorite Lists in the scanner. (Please see the SDS200 user guide) My comment was strictly speaking to the memory limits of the sds200.

I am familiar with the SDS's owning 2 100's and 2 200's but only having 100 useable that you can turn on and off.
Again - I was speaking to the memory limit of the SDS200 - not the usability of programming 256 Favorites Lists.. The point is that the programming limit is dictated by the CPU memory - not the SD card.

Now, for grins: I successfully wrote 256 Favorites Lists into one of my several SDS100/200's. I can write 256 Favorites Lists into the device. (The 257th Favorites List could not be written). There are other ways to enable Favorites Lists in addition to quick keys from the Set Scan Selection Menu. (e.g. Select Lists to Monitor, Set All Lists Off/On). So, yes, I can program 256 Favorites Lists into the SDS200. Is it feasible? That is up to the individual use case.

And such Favorites Lists can also be turned On/Off with things like Location Control and Configuration Keys.

For example, when I'm in my home area, Config Key 1 is active which has Favorites Lists for my immediate area. But today I took a trip about 50 miles away and turned on Config Key 2, which turns on (loads) a few more Favorites Lists that are applicable to the destination area plus home area.

These scanners are so flexible, you can accomplish "something" numerous ways.

That's not even mentioning having different Profiles on different SD cards, so if you are really, really zealous (possibly demented) you could have well more than 256 Favorites Lists.

Back to original question, you cannot have UIDs with the full database. And if you are going to create Favorites Lists, scanning them and the full database is duplicatively redundant all at the same time.

Keep in mind, 1MB per FL is pretty huge! 256 FLs is a lot!

(I have about 50, and the largest is about 300k, and that's actually a multi-purpose, multi-service database I downloaded from somewhere....)

A bigger memory card just means more room for recording, really..... I think my SDS100 has a 16GB card that was installed by the person I bought it from. Between the firmware (when updating), boot screen, full database, and about 50 FLs, there's 2-5 MB total, I think?
