The SDS200 (no idea on SDS200e) does not come with any systems programmed.

The SDS200e is not legal in the US due to it not being FCC certified because of the frequency bands it covers.

That doesn't mean there aren't European models here, but most (if not all) European stores won't ship to the US.

From the video's I have seen it appears to be pre-programed with US Law Enforcement & Utilities.
SDS200 Beginners Guide - YouTube
I am in New Zealand & have no need for any of that.
I believe there is a Australian Version, setup similar to the USDS100, but is not listed on Uniden AU.
The USDS100 is available in NZ & Australia & dosent have the US programing.
I could buy one of those but prefer a desktop unit.
There is a UK version also SDS200E.
I have been unable to find much info on the differences other than the frequency & plug on the AC Power.

Uniden Australia don't offer the SDS200e, although curiously buried somewhere on their website I've seen firmware upgrades.

With the SDS200e the U.S. cellular phone range is not blocked and depending on where sold it may have DMR, NXDN and Ericsson ProVoice upgrades loaded.

There is a seller on ebay Australia offering them whose listing might give you the detail you are looking for. If not, drop them a line. Even with an Australian state dataset loaded and looked at with the supplied version of Sentinel it will give you an idea how to program in local systems.

OK, let me clarify that about not coming with systems programmed. The SDS200 (US and Canada versions) come with an old copy of the US & Canada Radio Reference Database installed.

However, when you get it, you first must us Sentinel to update that database to the latest version. Then you must tell it (via adding a GPS or entering your postal code) where you are and what service types you are interested in. In other words, out of the box, it isn't setup to scan anything.

As to the UK version or Australian version, I have no idea where their database comes from. With any of them, if you know the frequencies needed and digital trunking decoding methods used, you can program them by hand.

Is there any way to remove that database?
On the SD card you have a folder called HPDB. In there you can delete all files that have a .hpd extension. There will only be some 200KB of files left. If you delete all files it will throw an error and refuse to startup. The whole database are only some 200MB so it doesn't need to be deleted. You will have to fill up the scanner with a lot of channels until you run out of memory.

Would that be the same with the BCD536 model?

It's hardly worth the effort to delete the database files on the SD card. The total size of the entire North American database on the SD card is only 51.5 MB. The entire file structure on the card needed for the scanner to operate including the database (before adding any of your customized data to it) is only 53.2 MB.

The largest supported SD card size is 32GB (larger cards have been known to work ok). Below are the stats from a 16GB card. As you can see, the used space on the card is hardly even noticeable. When you operate the scanner, you have the option to totally ignore the built-in database and only scan what you have put into your favorites lists. You can scan the database files as well as your favorites lists at the same time if you wanted to, or any combination of the two.

Can anyone tell me if the SDS200e comes programed with the US frequencies, same as the SDS200 ?
I was curious as well, so I just installed and updated a copy of the SDS200E Sentinel program, and it has the same database in it as the SDS200 Sentinel version. (USA and Canada).

Yes. 436 536 SDS100 SDS200 are pretty much identical in functions. Uniden doesn't reinvent the wheel, they reuse the same firmware code in those scanners and only change what's needed to support the different receiver in SDS scanners and the additional features it needs like filter settings. It's the same Sentinel and database and the way how it handles the configuration files.

Here is what happened to me when I made a foolish decision to buy my GRE PSR 500. Advice: Never buy a scanner from a business that sells Harley Davidson parts and Fender guitars.

I bought mine from a store in Brooklyn. When the BNC module took a nose dive, I sent it in for repair. They called and said it was fixed. But, I received another phone call from GRE. They said they would have to reverse the repair and send it back to me due to "C" next to the serial number. The model was from Canada and did not have FCC approval for the states.

I threatened the business stating they sold me an illegal radio. However, they made good on it and then sent me a U.S. model.

If a radio does not have the right nomenclature on the back, it is illegal to repair them in the U.S.
