Hello all

I was listening to 147.090 MHz this evening, i could hear USA callsigns and Ontario callsigns. The net controller was asking for people who wanted to check in on qnet. The net ended a few minutes after i started listening. I stayed on that frequency because i was curious about that repeater as it appeared to be in the USA. I heard the repeater announced itself to what sounds to me like WB2ERS this callsign belongs to guy in NY. i can't find a match between this callsign and the frequency of any repeater. All i could find in NY is this

Do any of you know this repeater ?

Thanks

Thanks but i still can't find a match between the frequency and the callsign announced by the repeater itself.

Did you check repeaterbook?

Yes i did, i just can't find any match. Of course i can find the frequency but it is not associated with the callsign that the repeater announces. I will try to listen again tomorrow, maybe i'll hear some info that will help identify this repeater properly.

It could be that the repeater is connected to EchoLink so that people out of range of the actual repeater can check in on their net. That is a possibility if you heard a station from Canada. EchoLink lets you connect to the repeater through the internet via a computer or phone App.

That is a possibility however it does not explain why i can't find a match between the frequency and the callsign of the repeater

Depending on how it is linked/patched/connected and a tail-drop on another repeater connection you may have heard that come thru.
See if the Repeater ID's any other times, besides the NET

If the Repeater is/was linked, there would be no correlation as the repeater [Callsign] is on a totally different frequency - just linked/patched
That is a possibility however it does not explain why i can't find a match between the frequency and the callsign of the repeater

Because there is no master or official database of ham repeaters in the US. The call sign could have changed, the repeater could be uncoordinated, nobody submitted it, etc.

I looked up WB2ERS (the call you thought you heard) on qrz.com - he is active in repeater network operation.
Quote from his page:
"I can usually be found on our Repeater Network GARA (Greater Adirondack Repeater Association)
See the system at GARA Network Map "

It must have been linked, i would be surprise to hear a repeater from NY, it's a 5-6 hour drive from my place.

Why don't you just contact him via his email address on his qrz.com page and ask him where it is?

Will do. In the mean time the same thing is happening on 147.150 MHz i heard a few USA callsign but i did not hear the repeater ID itself for now.

So the guy got back to me. The GARA network map was not updated. The repeater at 147.090 + is part of that network. It is located in West Hill (Plattsburgh, Vermont) PL is 151.4. I was able to hit the repeater, i'll try to make some contacts.
